THIS IS WHAT MY ENGLISH TEACHER WROTE ON MY PAPER. THE ESSAY WAS ABOUT HOW FLAG BURNING SHOULD BE CONSTITUTIONAL. "On a personal note: Shame on you! You live in the most free nation there is- with all sorts of liberties and rights-even to go to college and live where you want, travel freely, w/out restriction, own property, etc. etc. etc. Sure our country has problems, lots of them and a normal decline from decent values. But shame on you for thinking it's ok to burn our flag. That's what our enemies do-to show their spite for us. It's wrong for a citizen to be so disrespectful for a flag-that stands for so much. It dishonors our history and every soldier who has fought for what you so casually regard. If our country is worth such scorn to you that you would desecrate a flag-why stop there? But if all you have is the level of scorn for our flag-then leave the country to people who do love and cherish his and her flag-inspite of her weaknesses. U have no tolerance for people who dishonor this country's flag or other symbols of liberty. Nowhere in the world-even in our allied nations like Britain, France, etc.-do you have the freedoms you have here." -Beverly Mohat |

I like to think that I’m
making a good impression. The only way I know to do so, is to keep my
efforts pointed towards the work. Occasionally there is an unwanted
distraction that comes into my life. I am not going to preface this
entry with a disclaimer, or attempt to justify my response on this issue
to anyone else. This is my webpage, it is not password protected, and
honestly, this is a dead issue, so why fight it. Over the past month or so, I have met a variety of people, and have fallen into a clique known as the Short Bus Crew. One member of my clique, has made references on his web journal to the fact that I act like an immature high school student. He wants to start hanging out with older kids. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but
if you really know me, you understand that I feel like I am here to
work. This is a professional atmosphere, and by working hard at something
I enjoy doing, allows me to become trained in my art. I am offended
that someone would attempt to call me anything but a serious and dedicated
theatre design and production student. If I am not, please tell me.
I long to work hard and to become as good as I can get at CCM. And if
you don't like how I act, then find yourself a new friend, because you
won't find one here. A 2 SIDED ARGUMENT means that an issue can easily
be disputed. If I say that flag burning should be legal, and you say
it’s not, who is going to win? No one will win. There is no right
and no wrong, because it evokes controversy and pros and cons from either
side. I will be willing to hear any argument that anyone is willing
to put up, but I reserve the right, in any situation to make my own
opinions on a topic. What is better, mac or pc? who would win in a fight,
the Venus of Willendorf or Professor Rush? Is a web journal protected
content of the user who posts it? All of these are open ended questions
that allow for two different aspects. Who really cares if a pc is better,
more cost effective, and can do just the same as a mac (without some
cool features), or if a 4 and 3/8 inch piece of stone could beat up
my art history teacher? I am posting this on my personal website fully
knowing that someone will stumble upon it and read it. That’s
fine, feel free to comment, it’s an open forum. I invite you to
question anything I say. I hate it when people post things on the internet
and don’t expect that someone will look at it, and possibly get
offended. Friends don’t lie to friends. (ok, I said that I burned
a flag once, but didn’t, it was a joke, get over it). I have a
friend that is under the impression that he can write anything that
he wants in his journal, but other friends can’t. What a hypocrite.
I can’t believe that one person’s first amendment rights
are greater than another’s. How dare you. You bet I’m going
to be livid when a hypocritical friend leaves a note on my door saying
that I am inhuman. I don’t feel any pain for you. Do whatever
you want, but don’t bother me, and don’t you dare give me
a guilt trip about me driving you out of college. You’re driving
yourself out by alienating yourself. What is everyone supposed to think
when you have a middle finger for a name tag on your door? I’m
supposed to feel bad for you? Sorry, I don’t work like that. So in conclusion, yes, I get angry when you call
me immature, and yes, I do believe that burning a flag in protest of
your government, and yes, I feel that you have committed a grave injustice
on the U.S. Constitution by saying that one person is more free to say
something on their website than another. (hence the post here), and
no, you and Abbey were not spooning that night, I remember it clearly,
you were on the floor, and she was on the bed. I don’t like a
middle finger sticking out at eye level when I walk by your door, and
no I will not remove this entry for any reason whatsoever. I am entitled
to my opinion just like you are, and I hope you know how uncomfortable
you are making me by your remarks towards me and my friends. |
